Robotics and programming
The little ones and the young people of Sant Feliu were able to participate in various events and educational experiences related to the teaching of programming and robotics in primary and secondary schools such as, for example, participation in initiatives or global partners such as the Hour of Code or the Scratch Day to learn computational thinking.
It was 'playing programming, programming playing'.
This promotion of computational thinking, creativity and innovation allowed young people in our city to write their first lines of code or develop their first mobile application, as the idea was to provide an introduction to programming, in a fun and creative way, through the Code.org website or participating in face-to-face Scratch workshops such as the one held by the local UOC headquarters in 2013 and 2014.
The aim was to work together from the local educational community, and with the support and complicity of public digital spaces, because the teaching of programming increases motivation, improves autonomy and fosters the creativity of students, to more than preparing them for a labor market that is increasingly demanding professionals in the ICT area.
Learning to program helps us understand how technological devices work and interact with them to explore our ideas and build different things. Through the programming activities, children and young people developed from animated stories to video games, passing through simulations of scientific models or multimedia art projects, while acquiring the basics of logical, mathematical and computational thinking, robotics and automatisms... and much more month.
In addition to training in problem solving, since the participants worked on projects in a collaborative way, it allowed them to develop communication skills and, more importantly, encouraged creativity and enhanced self-esteem. And all this while playing and very motivated!
