Yuzz, Explorer... and now PowerUP. Accelerating young talent in the video game industry!

The City Council of Sant Feliu de Llobregat has been accelerating technology-based young entrepreneurship since 2012 through the program Yuzz (2012-2017) and Explorer 'Jóvenes con Ideas' (2018-2019) in collaboration with the CISE of Santander Universidades. As a result of this joint initiative, 7 entrepreneurs from Sant Feliu Explorer Space have traveled to Silicon Valley, but beyond this inspiring incentive and with connections for the internationalization of their projects and start-ups, the most important is the experience of the 440 people interviewed in the framework of the project, the 345 applications submitted, the 199 young participants and the 115 projects of all kinds (mobile applications, marketplaces, virtual and augmented reality, video games, blockchain?) that have become a reality , a good number of them with a strong incorporation of social impact.

Along the way there has also been the consolidation of the regional and metropolitan dimension of our city in the support, acceleration and launch of innovative entrepreneurship , based mainly on a community of young people with talent and great abilities that builds very enriching synergies for its professional future and the potential of Sant Feliu de Llobregat.

Thanks to funding from the Development Area. Economic Council of Barcelona this year have been able to identify and map in our city two emerging areas of smart specialization and putting the strategic focus on knowledge-based development needs: the audiovisual sector and media , with a strong tradition in the city and a strong link to the social economy, and the video game and eSports sector .

With the resources that the provincial program of Strategies for local economic development has invested in the project 'Video games and e-sports: a driving force of the economy' has been defined a new acceleration program for young talent, aimed at this sector and with the outstanding participation of agents with a perspective of quadruple propeller , in this case ENTI-UB ' The University of Video Games' , disruptive companies in the sector such as The Breach Studios or Undercoders and citizen innovation actors such as Sant Feliu Media Club .

This is how the PowerUP Competition was born , an acceleration program for entrepreneurial projects related to video games and interactive digital leisure.

Sant Feliu City Council, through the municipal program for the validation of urban innovation prototypes 'Social Urban Lab' of Sant Feliu Innova will coordinate PowerUP , along with different local actors and metropolitan agents who co-created the prototype of this accelerator.

In this way, Sant Feliu de Llobregat joins cities such as Barcelona, Málaga and A Coruña, which have made a firm commitment to the strategic sector of video games.

So what is PowerUP?

The 'PowerUP' Inno-Gaming Talent competition will consist of specialized training focused on improving a video game in the areas of Design, Production, Marketing and Business.

The aim of the program is to provide participating teams with sufficient knowledge and tools to make their project a leap in quality to present it to publishers or investors.

So you know what? Are you developing a video game? Do you have a technical demo? We want to help you improve your project.

Sign up for PowerUp , the industry's most targeted video game acceleration program!
