The main objectives of this urban agriculture project are:

  • Awareness of the citizens about the values of land and the environment.
  • Highlight local food and organic farming.
  • Recover agriculture, minimizing the use of chemical fertilizers and insecticides.
  • Promote local production, consumption of healthy and seasonal foods.
  • Provide an integrative solution for people at risk of social exclusion.
  • Create social networks, encouraging collective work, social cohesion and the well-being of people.
  • Promoting healthy lifestyles.

To carry out the initiative, the City Council is collaborating with Tarpuna, a non-profit cooperative with extensive experience in the field of training and organic and social agriculture.

There is a continuous support for the users of the orchards, through the presence of an agricultural technician, and a social educator, who dynamize the project and convene the assemblies and advise the gardeners, who also receive regular training on the ecological cultivation of the plots. .
