The Poetry Week returns to Sant Feliu and is celebrating its thirteenth edition, which will fill the city with poetry between March 14 and 24 with more than twenty proposals between recitals, theatre, concerts, performances and exhibitions, where poetry will be the backbone. In this year's edition there is a strong female presence and more than half of the program includes local proposals, among which the meeting of three legendary local indie bands, La Estrella de David, Primogénito López and Juanjo López stands out; or the 'Batec' show by Sant Feliu's Mercedes Losada, which returns to the Sant Feliu Poetry Week.
The photographer Raül Clemente was in charge of designing the image for this edition, with a promotional poster and video that appeal to a celebration of friendship, the route of Poetry Week and the good times experienced in Sant Feliu de Llobregat sharing live culture.
The opening ceremony of Poetry Week will be on Thursday March 14, at 8 pm, in the Palau Falguera Auditorium, with the show 'Tranquila. Celeste sings Chavela', with Santi Careta on guitar, Oriol Roca on drums and the voice of Celeste Alías, who will tour the universe of the singer Chavela Vargas. A day later, the Ateneu Santfeliuenc will host the ContraBaix concert, with the trio led by the historic jazz double bass player Nono Fernández, preceded by the poet Edgar Caride, winner of the Slam Poetry in Barcelona last December.
On Saturday 16, at 8 p.m., the Palau Falguera Auditorium will host Barnasants Night. Ateneu Santfeliuenc once again participates in the BarnaSants cycle, which this year celebrates its 29th edition with this collective concert to pay tribute and remember one of the fundamental exponents of the New Song, the singer-songwriter Ovidi Montllor.
After her well-remembered concert at Poetry Week 2022, the extraordinary Myriam Swanson returns to Sant Feliu to present her new album and show 'Delicatessen', recorded with one of the most outstanding guitarists on the Spanish scene, Jordi Mena It will be on Thursday March 21, at 8.30 pm in Sala Els Pagesos. Trash Poetry will return to the same stage on Saturday 23, a classic of Poetry Week where the most disruptive, heterodox and localist proposals of the festival take place. This year, the winner of the Martí Dot Award, Núria Contreras, will present a recital based on her poetry collection En construcción, with the JJ Produccions company. After the already traditional recital of La Mordida, the concert by Australian singer-songwriter Maddi O'Brien will close the evening.
On a local note, the double session on Monday 18 also stands out, in which the relationship between music and poetry will be discussed. Vania from Sant Feliuen will open with a small concert where they will review some of the most poetic pop songs made in Baix Llobregat. And it will continue with the presentation of the last book written by Santi Balmes, Esa pieza que no encaja, where the versatile artist from Baixllobregatí discovers his secrets when it comes to composing songs and writing.
The thirteenth edition of Poetry Week will close with the traditional delivery of the Martí Dot Poetry Prize, which this year will be preceded by a recital by the last winner, Albert Rabell, who will present his work Fora de la nosa. And then the local Dixieland Preachers and their show 'Poet in New Orleans' will close this year's Poetry Week.
