ATENEA, the artificial intelligence project serving the elderly, is presented at the Mobile World Congress

Last February 29, the Atenea project was presented at the Mobile World Congress, a software that works with artificial intelligence and is used through a tablet without buttons and without touch screens, which is activated only with an interaction as simple as voice, and which is aimed especially at elderly or dependent people.

Its aim is to contribute to the digital transformation of the territories, putting the most vulnerable citizens at the center, and reducing the digital gap. It allows people who live alone to be in contact (by establishing calls and video calls with loved ones and the environment) and increases the safety of the person, especially inside the home, since in case of emergency it can request a call to 112 or a medical emergency contact. It can also locate the person in space and time by means of date and place reminders and, within the framework of Social Services and health, allows you to set up a call with the social referent, as well as request an appointment.

This project is promoted by the ABD Group and Momentum Analytics, and has the cooperation of Samsung, Microsoft, Verbio, Raona, the Secretariat of Digital Policies of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Cybersecurity Agency of Catalonia and the University of Barcelona.

The current phase of the project is subsidized within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by Next Generation EU managed by the Department of Social Rights of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

Sant Feliu de Llobregat, pilot territory

Sant Feliu de Llobregat City Council collaborates as a pilot city in this project along with five other territories. This implies that the residents of Sant Feliu, over 65 years of age and who live alone, can participate in the initiative voluntarily and free of charge until 100 people are reached. In this sense, some talks were already organized to inform about the project.

As part of the Mobile World Congress, a follow-up meeting of the project's governance body was held, where the President of the People Services Area, Ivan Martín, participated, along with other positions and managers of the collaborating institutions, and with the presence of Lluis Torrens, Secretary of Affairs and Families of the Generalitat. Department of Social Rights, and Ester Manzano, Director General of Generalitat DG Digital Services and Citizen Experience, among others.

There are currently 41 users who already have the devices installed in their homes and, therefore, another 59 people can still participate, as long as they are from the municipality and meet the requirements.
